Dan began his career in law enforcement 29 years ago as a military police officer in the U.S. Army. After the Army, he worked in the private and industrial security fields and as a detention officer. In 1995 he began his career in the field of forensics. Dan has a Masters of Administration with a Leadership Emphasis from Northern Arizona University and a Bachelor of Science in Justice Studies from Arizona State University.

As a forensic investigator, he has worked a wide variety of crime scenes ranging from minor car accidents to multiple fatalities; property crimes to homicides. He has worked on numerous death investigations, officer involved shootings, sexual assaults, and other major crime scenes. In 2000, Dan began supervising a squad of crime scene technicians. Currently Dan supervises the crime scene unit of a municipal police department.

He is recognized by the Arizona Police Officer Standards and Training board as a specialist instructor in Preliminary Investigation & Crime Scene Management, Physical Evidence Procedures, and Fingerprinting. In addition to processing crime scenes, his work has included training investigators and police officers in forensic techniques. He has taught at police academies, crime scene technician academies, and in service training sessions. He has made countless presentations on a variety of forensic and law enforcement topics throughout his career.

Dan is a Certified Technical Assessor for the American Society of Crime Laboratory Directors/Laboratory Accreditation Board-International and a former Certified Field Training Officer through the National Association of Field Training Officers. Dan is a member of the International Crime Scene Investigator’s Association, the International Association for Identification, the Arizona Identification Council, the Arizona Homicide Investigator’s Association, the Arizona Law Enforcement Records Manager Association, and the Fraternal Order of Police Associates (Past President). He serves his community as a proud member of the Knights of Columbus and volunteers with the Boy Scouts of America.
